Alright lads, new to this any just got my first mk2 3 mps and it's an animal. Love this car.

I got it remapped as soon as I purchased it, and they got it up to 307bhp (completely stock) running on v-power.

I'm now looking at upgrading the exhaust, and I'll be removing both cats and then cat-back system. Was looking to see if anyone could give me advice on what brands to go for. Was looking at corksport or miltek cat-back. But dose it really matter what decat and downpipes to go for?

Cheers

Who mapped it , especially since you dont have a fuel pump.

Welcome but i am guessing you will need to watch the car with that map as there are only 3 companies in the country that can map a MPS .

On to your exhaust ,just get a custom turbo back .however you will need a map tweak running fully cat less

Milltek are way too expnsive.

Get the decat pipes from Total MPS or ebay, then have the resonator removed. If you like the sound, just have the tips changed.

Not sure if you really made 307bhp, but if you did, it's either a proper freak car or an aggresive tune. You will need a proper tune when you do the DP and I would recommend you stick to those with proper MPS experience or use Versatune/COBB AccessPort.

EDIT: You definitely need high pressure fuel pump internals on the Mk2 when tuning, otherwise start saving for a new block!

It was mapped by fr-rt tuning, the guy said he's never had a mps up that high with a stage 1 map. Also got that cobb v8 acess port. He did recommend that I should get the high pressure fuel pump and internal done, or I could run into problems in the future.

I had a look on total MPS and it seems reasonable priced for the decat and downpipe.
Iv always had custom made decats and never been let down. But just want to do something different and see what else is out there.

Didn't believe it made that myself, but the graphes showed it that high. Never put it on the dyno rolling road cause the intercooler is still top mounted and the guy said he's had problems with it over-heating, so took it on the motorways.

So for the decat and downpipe the brands don't matter.

If you remove your CAT's there's a good chance you'll knacker your turbo seals, then you'll be buying a new turbo.

307bhp without a hpfp? I'd be leaving the car on the driveway until i'd got one... but that might just be me

How did he give you a graph printout without putting it out on the dyno? Or do you mean he road tuned it, then put it on the dyno for a power run?

If you take out the first cat, and adjust the map on the cobb access port will that help any problems that can occur on the turbo seals.

Just want to make this machine sound good. I have to travel a fair bit to get a custom made, so was just looking for info about want good brands and opinions out there for the exhaust.

But I think you need to do some serious research and reading on here before going any further, also, I'd send a 4th gear wot log to Justin to check things over, also send your map, but thats me.
Get some HPFP's internals sharpish imho going off that kinda power.
Can we see a graph?

Very helpful club here
Where are you based btw?

Hi SpamFace, aye was thinking I needed to do some serious research after reading through a lot off different posts. There's way more to take into consideration when tuning.

I'm not going to rush into anything the now, as I want to get all the best info from the lads on here, they all seem clued up as yourself. But might still just get the second decat removed with the test pipe from total MPS, and the resonator removed. Just want a good note coming from this animal. And maybe get some induction kit, not sure what one to go for, so I'll do my research first. Iv also got the cobb AP, is this a handy bit of kit to have?

Yeah I have got graph, I'll get it uploaded so as.

I'm based in Inverness haha, well out the way. So there is not much options for tuning and getting custom exhaustsystem.

Cheers for the advice

Where can I get a second decat pipe that will fit the stock exhaust, can the one from total mps be bolted on to the stock exhaust?

Thanks for the advice guys, can learn a lot off the site

The decat off TotalMPS will fit straight in no worries.
The Cobb is an excellent piece of kit no doubt :)
I have it myself.

BTW, Kev lives not too far from you. Yeah still a wee drive but not too far really.
The sencinf decat does give the 6 a little nice rumble but not so much the mkii 3, I'd hold out for a new exhaust if you want more grunt
