Had a Mazda 6 MPS now for three weeks after upgrading from TS2 diesel. Its a much different car.
I have booked it in for a 70,000 mile service this weekend with mazda as it has done 68000.
full service, 4 wheel alignment, recall check, full health check and lsd/gearbox oil change.
Does anyone know what should be in a full service at these miles, and at any point is the timing chain checked for right tension or is that owner request.
I ask because the engine does sound a bit tappy when warm.
But having said that it goes like the clappers :mpsoc:

Tappy where. Looking from the front of the the car, the left or right?

If the right, that's the fuel pump, it is noisy.
If the left, get the VVT checked, could be the chain slapping on the rocker cover and the VVT coup be out of align, mazdas price for this is £1200, buy the parts and get a local mechanic to do it and it'll be £400-600 aprox.

As for the gearbox oil, use the ford spec oil. It's miles better and helps with the crappy gear box with have.
Oh, :welcome:

Don`t forget that there is a transfer box that will need an oil change if you are doing the other gear oils.

Most ppl on here go for 5w40 or 10w40 engine oil. Mazda will probably put 5w30 in as a matter of routine. I think 10w40 makes the engine quieter and is a owner`s manual alternative.

Touch wood mate.
Was it a private sale or a garage?
If a garage and you have the dreaded VVT, it's the garages problem to sort out

Have you done the smoke after 10 mins on idle test? Again if it is on warranty they should fix it. If it is not on warranty get back to the excellent bunch of chaps on here for advice before spending any money.

It was bought from a garage with 3 month warranty but not yet received the paper work for the warranty. Advised the engine was covered.
I don't know what a 10 minute smoke test is, could you explain what that is and what it is done for.
Thanks

Quite simply turn the car on, leave to idle for 10-15 min, if it smokes then you've got a turbo issue, the seals have gone.

Have left car running on drive for longer than 10 mins when first bought and saw no noticeable smoke :)
Hoping to keep this car for a long time as really like driving it, gradually making really good as funds allow.
Luckily found this forum to learn more about my car and hopefully save a bit of money at garages trying to charge to much for works
Thanks again

Welcome mate! You'll love the 6! It is a brilliant car, but with a few hours searching through this forum you'll soon be into the modding and planning what next!
