Hi all!

Just joined today as I'm seriously contemplating a 6 and spending yesterday driving my brothers new Focus RS 350 has turned me a bit power crazed after managing to subdue the urge for a while.

He only bought the car yesterday morning and by 11:30 we were in Leeds to drop the wheels off for powder coating and by 15:30 we were in Wrexham for lowered springs, spacers and other bits. He's got it bad too!

Anyway, I have a slightly tuned SAAB 9-3 Aero but I'm really fancying the 6 as it's much more tuneable. I'm at the research stage and so far it seems timing chains and the VVT actuator are the weak points, so now I'm just trying to find out how much the std internals can reliably cope with.

Anyway....hello!

Hello and :welcome:

Standard internals good for potentially 350-400bhp depending if you want to risk it... I think I'm around 350-370bhp and all going well, standard VVT with no rattles either.

A few 6 owners running similar/more power than me on stock engine internals

Hi and welcome to :mpsoc:

Not a bad mode to be in! Its not just the ease of tuning with the mps, they are rarer than most jap turbo nutter mobiles and generally a fair bit cheaper to insure and run compared to say a scooby.

Cheers for the welcome Mike.

Hadn't even thought about insurance until you mentioned it as I'm early 40s and nothing seems too crazy, but I'm happy with the £290 that confused has just quoted for an MPS. Not even looked around yet.

Yup, I've been filling a fantasy shopping basket on Street Unit and Cork Sport, and had most of what you suggest, other than the BNR, which looks good. Looks like a good place to start.

Welcome to the site. Good look with your buying, make sure you read the various threads on here about the VVT, but seems like you're clued up about it anyway.

Thanks for the welcome and yes I'm busy reading up on the VVT. Timing chain will have to wait until tomorrow.
