Hey all, Just registered on here as I'm changing cars and its a toss up between a mazda 6 mps and a megane r26. The mazda is nicer however they seem very rare and I need a car soon. So just thought I would say hello and the only question I can think of is can someone give me a clue as to how often they need to be serviced and is it worth waiting for a sub 50k car? I'm looking at 2007 ish plates and so long as its not red (not my thing) I just want a nice clean car. Thanks guys

9K for oil and filter. People seem to get trouble from plugs before 54K. The iridium ones only cost £40 per set. They need a service every 9K or 12 months. This is very important for these engjnes. No nasty surprises servicing wise. They have timing chains, not belts for which there is no scheduled r replacement time. They do wear however and need replacing asap.

before i bought i test drove the megane renaultsport 250 then i test drived the mps and again the renault .... then i bought the mps didnt need another test drive. They are very differant animals the mps is urgent and demands your attention but the renault although very nice didnt feel that engaging it had the speed but didnt feel nowhere near as fast as the mps for mid range acceleration. Also the mps tunes up very nice

I was about to say 9k miles seems quite low but that's about a years driving for me thinking about it and I always service every year anyway. I'm assuming its the ticking and slapping about that warns everyone of the chain wearing? Yea to be honest I've sold my motorbike as the girlfriend and her family are with me now so the megane was going to be my "toy" but it's time I grew up really which to me means the mps :-)....just cos its a family car doesn't mean it has to be boring. I'm coming from a mk1 octavia vrs so expecting big things from the mps

Thanks bobster. I was only looking at the r26 and not the 250 as I can't afford that. The megane just seems like a lot of car for the money and the tax is less but the more I look into it the more I prefer the mps all round.

A gen one in white or black for me is my colour choice seen a couple on google images and with the wheels done right and lowered ever so slightly (best check on here how that affects handling) they look untouchable a real head turner and scratcher as no one knows what they are lol. I think the mazda 6 is untouchable in the pounds for buck status ,do your homework on here as these chaps will tell you how to bag a good one and if your stuck you could always ask for anyone near you on here to have a look at it as some of these guys could strip and rebuild one they know so much. Good luck.

Well my plans may be changing. I may end up with a 3 mps due to them being easy to get mainly lol. Still love the looks and I'm guessing the engine is the same so I just lose the awd which I'm sure I can live with. Could someone give me there opinion of a mk1 3 mps and handling. From what I've heard it's worth getting a aero edition?
Thanks guys.

Cheers guys. Lmao thanks bananas, round here we call the locals "juggers" lol.
What's this about the facelift? My budget won't go further than a 2007 plate with low mileage but I really want a mps and as said had my heart set on a 6 but the 3 in black is growing on me a lot.
