:welcome: Will to the forum.

I can't see the link at the moment as I'm on a rubbish mobile signal, but I'm sure someone else will have a look.

Hello and welcome.
Cracking price that, quality exhaust too. Ask him how the vvt is.

yes its comman. just need to have a listen around the left of the engine for the rattle. these engines are tappy around the right of the engine but that just the hpfp.

theres a few vids around so you should be able to get an idea of what to listen for. It should be around £800 to fix. once fixed though it shouldnt return as its an updated vvt actuator.

Hope we don't scare you with this vvt, it's not that common, but is very much been talked about do that's why the Internet will have a fair bit of info on the subject.

Yeah I'd be more inclined to say that the vvti issue is more uncommon than common as its only a handful of people on here that have had any trouble with it.

Back on subject.the car looks decent enough.you'd be better speaking directly to the person and definately viewing it before committing to anything via via the net.

I've had a look already... wasn't too sure what to look for at the time but I've pretty much agreed to get the car once I've had a good look over it for the common problems so will probably pick it up this week :)

Is there any other way to tell the VVT apart from listening for the rattle?

Yeah I have no idea why the lacquer is peeling :S

The wheels are peeling a bit aswell so might look to get a refurb, anyone know any good bodyshops in the suffolk area??

Cheers!

The wheels peeling is a common thing, bad coating in mazdas part.

Vibration through the clutch can help diagnose the vvt. If you go ahead with the purchase, just stick a video up.

Should be picking up this car next week! Can't wait!
As its at 72k do I need to worry about the clutch? I'm hoping its possible to have at least a years worry free motoring with the car!

Is it worth getting a remap on the car as its already had a few mods? the guy is giving me an induction kit with the car aswell.

Hello and :welcome:

Listening to the VVT is not the ideal way to diagnose as faulty...... to really check you need to remove the cam cover and inspect the VVT as per the Mazda TSB. Obviously you are not able to do this on a car you have not bought but you can look at youtube for some VVT noise videos to make you aware of what it's like. These engines are noisy anyway - mine is too so much so that I checked the VVT and it is fine.

Can also check it by plugging a laptop in and actually seeing what the timing is doing. When Gunther did this to mine, it showed up as the second worst he's ever seen on a car. I was lucky to not throw a rod.
