JamesG wrote: I previously had a TDCI remapped and i DIDNT get better mpg for the same pace and neither did you. If you drive at naff all revs on the motorsnooze then you get more mpg on your diseasel, but as soon as you use the grunt - wey hey; mpg say good bye... Went from 40 mpg average to 34mpg - but then that's fine because i had loads more power and was going faster.
Think of it this way.. Your engine is a a method of turning chemical energy into heat energy, into torque. The more chemical / heat energy and torque you produce the more fuel you use. The ONLY time these 'remap save you fuel' claims work is at light load on the motorway - EVER - FACT. Have a think about how you drive your car and what you want then decide if a remap is what you're really after... your not shy of a disagreement are you my ST TDCI had a good 5mpg increase in my average around town, with only a few mpg dropped when driven hard. My focus ST and vRS both had improved by about 2mpg average around town and about 5mpg at 80mph cruise on the motorway. but when driven hard MPG was massively lower.

I,m quite sure that a remap is some time away and tbh if it was to make the 6 really thirsty then i probably wouldn,t do it anyway. I would hope that mapping it would get it more responsive from lower revs? In my car anyway it doesn,t seem to really pick up til 3000rpm tho maybe this is the norm.

Was it a red TT you swapped for your mps. Only reason i ask is i pass a house that has/ had a grey 6mps on my way to work but now has a red TT sitting on the drive.
Anyway welcome. I'll look out for you when i'm oot and aboot.
