Cheers for the welcome fella's. Really contemplating cashing in some of my shares at work and buying one now, just done some figures and worked out a 3 MPS would only cost me £100 a month more than my current Volvo S60 D5, this consists of petrol and road tax only, insurance is actually cheaper, all maintenance would be carried out by myself unless electrical. Just got one obstacle THE MISSUS! "we've just had a baby blah blah blah" thing is she's on maternity leave and I’m paying £200 a month for her 2010 Auris what doesn’t even move, my outgoings are lower than hers so she's getting told! :censored: Will only have around £6k now though, £5k cash and around £1k for the Volvo. Just don’t want to rush in and buy a dog.

Thoughts???

If you're serious - hold out and buy mine for £6900 (7K with xcarlink left and tax left on). I don't Mind waiting pal.

Mines low mileage and mint, and that would give me some time to save for a MK2 :-)

Whatever you do - don't rush into buying one, like you said - the last thing you want is a dog.

Saying that, if you're desperate, there's loads of bargains to be had.. You've just got to look and not settle for something "just cause it's cheap"

Yours is exactly what I’m looking for as well, are you Defo gonna wait until after Christmas to sell? TBH I would hold out to buy yours if your serious. Where are you based?

Then I come across this...albeit high mileage but with a 12 month Mazda warranty and service, really don’t know now...

That is fairly high mileage, how many miles do you do and how long do you plan on keeping it?

I know mate, to high me thinks...as I do 12k a year and plan on keeping at least 2 years. Think its best to wait and look at Torquesteer's motor as it seems a belter. So hard waiting though...I want one NOW!!!

It is indeed a belter ;)

If I'm honest, the only reasons I want a MK2 are - heated seats, nav and the bonnet scoop... Probably a bit sad when I think of it that way. I just miss some of the comforts of my S3 (god awful engine aside).

Agree with this^^^^^^

I average about 26mpg in my 6. I do a 10 mile commute a day and I'm probably 60/40 split between motorway and urban. I think you'll see close to 30mpg if you're doing more motorway miles at a decent pace.

Personally, I think the 6 you linked to has too high a mileage for me, but with a 12 month warranty it might be worth a punt? You can pick up an excellent, low mileage 6 for well within your 7k budget (probably well within 6k) if you decide to go down that route rather than a 3.

And aif you get a 6, you will have plenty cash spare for the inevitable mods

Trust me - waiting for the right one (mine or otherwise) is worth it.

I've been in your position before, and it landed me with a huge garage bill because I was so desperate for an S3.. Never again. Patience is key, and it'll feel epic when you finally get the right one.

Defo a good choice going for the MPS though.

I love seeing the face on the owner of that Corsa with quad exhaust thinking he's ten men with his K&N air filter and his "crew" in the back seats when you casually overtake him as he's ragging the bollocks of his 1.2.

Total sleeper cars. I'm an MPS convert.

I drive from Runcorn to Ellesmere Port everyday costs me about £50 a week in fuel i could stretch that out but i have a heavy foot!! I am sure you could find a low mileage 6 for less than 5k i paid 4.5 for mine last year and that only had 46k on the clock.

It rings a bell, I remember someone putting the link on here due to the MPSOC sticker on the bumper. Can't remember the outcome of it thought.
