Cheers everyone. I'm in no immediate rush at the moment, i still need to strip my Astra of its Mods anyway so i think I'll dodge this one and wait for another to come up. There aren't many out there and the cheaper ones appear to be mostly down south for some reason. I'm pretty confident that a few of the ones I've seen up at around £9k will come down because they're definitely over priced...just a matter of waiting!

U could travel for the right one, I did just over a 700 mile round trip in a day for mine!! Crazy eh?! :D

I'm certainly not averse to travelling although you must be mad travelling that far! Ha! My last two cars i bought were roughly a 250 mile round trip away and I've seen one down south which is about a 350 mile round trip...trouble is it's a long way to go to find out there's something not quite right with it and come back empty handed!

I know, I did the dealers head in having him make all sorts of promises to me before I went! Luckily and unusually for a dealer, it all went perfectly and there was no lying! Haha

Well i've checked with Mazda and the only recorded service was done at 22k this year as the dealer indicated, so in the first two years of it's life apart from the PDI nothing has been done on the car which is very strange. Think i'll definitely give this one a miss and wait for another to come up!

Doesn`t make any sense at all as the original owner must have lost a shed load of money when it was repoed and he risked wrecking the engine while he had it.

Yeah I know. Why would anyone shell out a load of money for a brand new motor and then fail to have it serviced once in two years!

I can appreciate some people like to service their own car but only after the warranty has expired surely or else it's worthless!

I've managed to sort the cash for one now rather than trading my Astra in so I'll sell that privately in the interim and look out for a decent deal.

There's Black one up on eBay that's an 08 plate with only 15k on the clock but the dealer wants £9,700 for it! : eek2 : The listing does say best offer but doubt he'd let it go for around £8k.

I took a risk with mine with no FSH etc, 3 month later I forked out a fortune on the VVT :-(

2 weeks ago there were 3 x 6MPS on the Mazda dealer network. They were on at £7k and the view on this forum was that they were way overpriced. All have now gone.

Yeah that is bad luck mate feel for you but see you still got the car ;) but it could have had a minimum fsh but this still could have have gone 3 or 6 months once past the warranty..Alot is just luck on the car i think as reading up the vvt is still quite a rare occurance considering 1000's of these 2.3T disi engines were made (MPS3/MPS6/CX-7 Galaxy) etc I wonder how many engines/VVT have actually died?? Maybe 30 serious ones maybe more? out of 3000 thats still on a 1% chance on that figure..Mazdas are pretty reliable unless mods are put on and too much stress put on the engine..compared to the number of cars I have had go wrong..!!

I think i saw that one for £9700..Has it got the sports aero kit?..I would hold out for one with the aero mirrors..eibach suspension etc they are rarer but worth the wait as I think it looks better lowered with the mirrors and better drive..I had a quick search and there are only 2 black ones within 150 miles of me..Where have they all gone..they must sell pretty quick still..and rarer than we think :) There is a blue one near me for £6995 but quite high mileage but maybe worth a look and save £3k?

Yeah it has got the aero kit on it, definitely want one with the aero kit, look miles better in my opinion.

The dealer has said he'd reduce the price to £9k and that it's got FULL service histroy with evidence to back it up. Still think that's a bit steep to be honest despite the low mileage. If it was closer to £8.5k I'd probably be on my way to look at it as we speak!

Thanks mate, I've noticed that one actually, right sort of age and love the colour but it has got high mileage for a three year old car. To be fair though, I start a new job next month which means i'd be getting the train every day so getting something with slightly higher mileage doesn't bother me too much as I'll probably do 5k a year at the most I recon. It's one to consider anyway

I've seen this one local to me but it doesn't appear to be the Aero Model. Despite having the mirrors it hasn't got the spolier. Does it say on the V5C whether it's the sports aero or not, is there anyway I can find out for definite?

stick your head under the back and look for blue springs

it has the small spoiler though.

I've just done a quick check online and it isn't an aero model, just the standard one with the aero mirrors by the look of it. That's a pity...the search continues!

Yeah my aero says on the logbook and online so it will be registered as one....as gavin said have a double check the blue springs are all there. Mine has a fair few miles too but still under 50k..It has been there a while that blue one ( maybe since august) he might take an offer of £6200-500 ???then that would be worth the extra mileage on it and then a nice treat to a lovely service and change all the oils for the extra £500 you saved :)

Yeah it's definitely not an aero from the check I did before and the trader said it doesn't say aero on the V5C unfortunately.

That blue one actually has close to 70k on the clock. There's another similar on that is an 07 plate but with 51k which looks nice although I wanted the facelift really.

This is the black on i've been looking at which the dealer has discounted to £9k and will throw in 6 months tax. I did a quick DVLA check and it says that the road tax expired two years ago in October 2010! : eek2 : When i queried it with the dealer he said that they've had it on stock for that long!? That's a very long time to have a car sat in your showroom for and not sell it. Seems everyone I look at has some wierd story behind it!

mine was sat for a year for sale with no issues at all..it wouldnt bother me it been sat there. aslong as its services are up to day. people leave cars stood long times with no problems. theres a good chance its been sat inside aswell.

i would go and look at that and use the 2 year thing as a bargining tool.
