Goose 3's can be like that too I was put off by the 2wd-ness of the 3 so opted for the 6. Goose after coming from a fwd subaru i can honestly say that the 3 surprised me as to how well you could throw it around in the lanes i have even had a porsche carrera 4 try to keep up in the lanes but couldnt , not sure how much of that was driver influenced though Try them both if you can . Oh and welcome along

Well I would like a bigger car now since I've always had little fwd cars and like I say the 6 fits the bill really well.
Does anyone know if there is info here in regards to how many of then were made, colour choices, available options at the time and so on? I'd really appreciate any help :-)
Was speaking to a mate of mine yesterday and was talking to him about that fact I want a 6MPS and his response was 'mate, I like your style' haha :-)

Welcome! Definitely hang on for the right one. The 6 mps only came in black, silver, titanium grey and red. As far as I know the only optional extra was the Sat Nav (which I have, but is pretty rare - you can get aftermarket units which look OEM but cost about £300 I think). Mine does the job but obviously some newer roads aren't on there. Like you I know I wanted a large saloon - I have always preferred saloons to hatches though. It loses on practicality with no split fold seats (due to extra strengthening) and the boot floor is higher due to the 4wd so you lose a bit of bootspace over the standard 6. It's an awesome car though. The 6 mps was pretty well specced anyway (sunroof, leather electric memory seats etc), but this brochure has all you need to know in it: brochure

I've yet to see one in the metal but from what I've seen most people seem to like black the most. I don't fancy black because it's too hard to keep looking good, nor silver because I've had so many silver cars. Some people seem to think the red cheapens the 6 MPS so Titanium silver seems to be the way to go. Thoughts? What were the upgraded alloys I've heard about too? Goose

Goose I like black, but agree it's hard to keep clean. Red gets you noticed but it's not personally my cup of tea. Silver I think is too much like so many other cars on the road, titanium grey (I would say this wouldn't I?!) suits just right. The standard alloys are prone to bubbling (I haven't heard about uprated alloys) and I think in standard colour they look a bit too bright and perhaps a little cheap. Save a bit of money to get them powdercoated and I think it makes the car look so much better (got mine done in graphite - viewtopic.php?f=86&t=10559) - but there's plenty of other owners on here who have taken things on a few steps further than my lowly efforts to date). I viewed two other 6's before getting this one. Both had a lot of rust underneath (not uncommon, but this has much less), also they did not have a complete service history and with performance cars I want to know about regular service intervals and oil changes, etc. Mine had this all perfectly documented - so like I say, it's worth holding out.

Yeah I'm the same, I want to know everything thats been done. When the time comes that I'll have one, I'll be changing the wheels anyway I think, think the standard ones are quite pants if I'm honest Rust as in the floor underneath? What do you mean exactly? Wax oilling ftw then! My fav colour is red so I'd quite like a red one but I'd have to see one in the metal. Any weak links in the chain I should be aware of? Goose

Not rust that has penetrated deep, but look under most 6's (in fact many Japanese cars as far as I'm aware) and it is there. I just wondered if the first examples I saw had not washed off road salt, etc. I will be considering getting mine undersealed at some point.
Search on here for threads on VVT/timing chain issues (to know what to look for when viewing), but otherwise I think the engines are pretty bullet proof. Gear selection can be a little sticky when cold and some people have fitted upgraded rear dif mounts.

Remind me of the ones on The Maserati GT's. Red is definitely very nice :-) GrayT wrote: Not rust that has penetrated deep, but look under most 6's (in fact many Japanese cars as far as I'm aware) and it is there. Looks pretty clean mate and if it's got the fsh as declared then she seems to be what you're after. Looks untouched on the outside (so you can create your own look), except someone has replaced the standard ariel for a stubby one (which looks a lot better). I'm sure you could nudge them down a bit on price as it's a buyers market.
