jees. i read all that.
these cars are quite rare but the sales man is telling a few porkies. there was 476 mps registered in 2010. still makes it very rare. as for things to look out for theres not alot really.
Make sure you do a long idel test when the cars warm and oil at its thinest. the long idel test will let you know if the oil seals in turbo are are healthy
Have a look at the alloys for bubbling. not serious but you will be able to get them changed for new ones under warranty.
There was some early ones that are missing sat nav and parking sensors. the was a mistake during prodiction. these cars are fine but should be cheaper so factor it in if you find one.
As for insurance i find it best to just use money super market or similer.
other then that theres not alot to go wrong with the mk2.
oh check for exessive tyre wear on the inner edges of the front tyres.
Hope that helps.

Bob That's the longest introduction essay since Dolph joined Is it Ringways Mazda in Doncaster ? I got my Mk1 from them, since traded for my Mk2. I turned 43 the other day and pay £300 fully comp thru Quote Me Happy, £60 cheaper than any other quote. RS Megane only comes in 3 doors so no good for kids. Change the tyres cos the Dunlop 2050s are shiite and wear alarmingly on the inner edge. RS Tuning and Total MPS are your trusted tuners up north and nearly everyone fits a Corksport induction kit or panel filter. Suck...whoosh....suck...whoosh
