t was never a recall - not enough cars to warrant it. There's just a handful of cars that have assploded because of it is all

That looks lovely! I am getting married in 4 weeks time, so we have decided best to wait until that is out of the way... so the day after i will be buying a new car!  I will be keeping an eye on what is coming and going until then, and doing research on bits I can change and modify

Sorry about the delayed response! I've had some signing in issues!
Those bulletins about the VVT issues, was it more common on the early models then? As I said before I'm on the lookout for a cheaper tax one, so it could quite likely be an issue on one of them?... I guess some have been ok though?
Definately need to check if the repair has been carried out on whatever I buy then!

If the vvt issue develops its a £780 fix from xopower so its not terrable but it would be nice if its been done already.

So ideally, what would be good is, if a reputable member on here has one for sale which has had the necessary work done and on a low tax band oh, and in that gunmetal type colour as well (Not asking much! ha!) £780 is still a pretty expensive repair though, and quite off-putting. What actually happened with yours Spamdo? If the VVT is the only issue, then I can probably live with that! I just worry about buying a car and it breaking on me! (but I suppose I would get that with anything) My current Almera GTi has never failed me in 5 years of ownership, but the Nissan's SR20 is pretty damn good. It's just time for more space, luxurys and a turbocharger

VVT failure is very low, I'd guess about 5%.... but good to be aware of it. Easy to get a screwdriver or whatever and press against area and listen - however a timing chain hitting rocker cover around about oil cap area should be obvious enough. I'd be more concerned wity the usual stuff like full history, bodywork condition etc
