Hi my. Names Richie I've just bought a mark 1 3 mps and love it it the only problem I have is I've never driven one b4 so I don't know if mines as good as it shudder be! The main thing is when I put my foot down in any gear the power is there but it is not very smooth it's very jerky! Is this normal or is there a problem any ideas what it could be can I fix myself or do I need to take it to a dealer? Thanks for your help

Def something wrong I'm afraid, didn't you test drive it ? Sounds like either boost leak or a fuel pump issue. I'm sure one of our techy boffins will tell you more

Some ideas there, I think I might just have to take it to Mazda get them to plug it in and find it. Then take it to dealer where I bought it and get them to sort it. In the meantime any more advice I would be gratefully thanks guys.

I've had an O2 sensor go. Intermittent hesitation is the main symptom accompanied by appalling MPG. Sometimes the hesitation is so bad it catches you coming out of a road junction - really dangerous. As the car has done 44K then new plugs wouldn't be a bad idea, anyway, if they have never been done but get the correct NGK's or Mazdas. They are the same except the NGK's will work out cheaper. Accepted wisdom on this site is - "no alternatives".
