I actually own a 2008 Mazda 5 but before you say that doesn't count I have dropped in a 2.5 engine and gearbox in place of the 2.0 engine it came with. After a year of visiting various tuners I found someone who could adjust the ECU to the correct settings to optimize this (although it ran without major issues on the 2.0 maps). So if anyone wants a recommendation on that front I can help.

My main interest is sat nav. I have imported a 2008 OEM sat nav (self contained with audio six CDs and a "map" DVD inside) from USA and fitted it to my car. This works but has an American accent and is missing one or two European radio settings. I now have a European DVD from 2008 that in theory this should update the firmware and give it a European accent - but the sat nav will not accept it. Looking at the .kwi files sizes and dates the files are similar and only 10 days apart (the European comment is 2007 ver. 2 and the USA comment 2007 ver. 1). Clearly if I burn a new DVD with the right combination of files I might be able to get the switch done but with 29 files, no kwi reader and no knowledge of what CRC checks etc. the sat nav does it too much of a risk to use trial and error. I believe that the principles will be similar on the Mazda 6 mps with OEM sat nav - has anyone cracked this regional switching of a sat nav?

There's a guy on here called "Steve The Human" I think he's cracked it. Do a search on "Steve The Human Sat Nav" and see what comes up? Send him a DM too. He seems like a smashing fella and I'm sure he'll help you out.
