Finally after many years of wanting to own one of these vehicles I got lucky and purchased one this week.
Its a 55 plate in silver with fmsh and 100k.

Body work needs touching up, wheels are in dire need of a refurb and two tyres are shot.

My main focus is the engine and too make sure its running perfectly.

At the moment the idle is pretty erratic ( up and down) and when reversing or car has to be revved a bit more to stop it cutting out.

However, I bought it knowing it had this issue with intentions of fixing it and spending some bucks to get it over the 300bhp mark.

I've been on here for a while getting info on parts to buy and I believe my first spend will be a catback exhaust and wheels. I also have a shopping list of parts to buy, which I will have to somehow sneak past the wife.

I'm not new to the jap scence though as ive owned a 200x, galant vr4 and a modified aristo v300.

Will be paying for a membership shortly and look forward to catching up with some of you guys.

Don't like that erratic revs but you mention.
First thing if do before wheels or exhaust though is VVT on a high miler like yours

Btw, all four tyres need to be of the same brand and version (tread) and only a few mm between the tyre wear at most or you'll have rear differential problems soon and that ain't cheap

The rev problem might be something simple, mine was fine when I test drove it, but when it was delivered it was horrible, after reading on here found it was probably due to a flat battery as my windows needed setting to, just had to drive around for a bit. I'd defo buy a COBB good bit of kit and have a diagnostic tool.

If you bought it from a dealer they should not have sold it to you with 2 shot tyres. I think it is illegal. Did it come with an MOT? As already said the tyre matching is critical on these cars. I would only consider mods after I had it running as a stock one should so that may cost you more than you expect.

Why did you go for a 6 rather than a 3, apart from the cheaper road tax?

Do you mind me asking how much you paid?
As above I dont think a dealer shoudl be selling a car with 2 knackered tyres in all honesty.
I'd be getting the tyres checked to see if theyre legal and if not getting onto dealer and requesting a full new set.
100k has the timing chain been done?

I know that the vvt and chain are well known weaknesses for the MPS and the most failure time is 50k miles. However, I would argue that if they last to 100k miles then you have been blessed with gooduns. It is the norm on other cars for the vvt and chain to last the lifetime of the engine, Having said that, if I bought a 100k MPS and the vvt was OK, I wouldn`t change it until it needed it, if ever.
