Hi everybody. I'm currently looking at new cars and the gen 2 mps is top of my list along with focus st3 facelift.

I used to have a gen1 mps a few years back and loved it, and currently driving a FN2 Type R.

So, I'm on the lookout for a white mps.

However, today I drove 100 mile to view a pearlescent white mps at the car people, with a real good intention of buying it. When I arrived the sky was cloudy and I walked towards the mps that was put to one side for our viewing. The first thing I said to my other half was "the bumpers are different colour to the rest of the car".
In fact, everything that was plastic was a creamier white compared to the metal panels!!

I mentioned this to the salesman and he stood back to look and agreed. This wasn't just the mps. A new mx5 in flat white was the same.
When the sun came out it wasn't as obvious but in the shade it stood out loads to me. (I'm picky). But saying that, if I bought it I know iit would bug me for ever.

Other than that, I'm loving the mps and actually prefer it to the ST.

So is this the case with all white Mazda? And if so, am I been too picky?

Nice, informative forum here too!

Thanks.

Hello and welcome.

Can't comment on the white but in certain lights the bumpers on the cosmic blue are slightly different to the metal sections. Could be the same on other colours I guess...

Welcome to the site. I've got a white mk2 and mine all looks the same colour. Perhaps find another to see. Is it specifically white you're after?

The red is awesome and worth a look honest. It changes colour through out the day everyone comments on it. I went looking for a white one and came home with a red one lol but far from disappointed check all the colours out and you may change your mind.

One in Sheffield by any chance , went with bigfish to look at it yesterday and we noticed the the colour difference , must have had new bumpers or them sprayed the front was like new no stone chips or owt Witch is odd for a car that had done 27k (stone chips on the bonnet had been touch over !
Every other mk2 iv seen is not like that with the colour difference

Keep looking , it's a totally different animal to the st

Prob wait till the day it has to go.
Does love the stone chips though.
Bloody roads don't help much and every bloody duel carriageway now has a lorry with bits falling of the back of the thing.

Well big thanks for all the replies. It was the one in sheffield yes! Ha ha.

Ive also had an st, and although theyre a bit of a boat in corners the engine is brill. The mps is rare though and not many people will recognise them as been a quick car.

I will certainly be checking other colours out too. My gen 1 was red and my civic is red and always fancied white.

Ill keep my eyes open. Thanks peeps.

There may be a slight difference in paint on bumpers and metal due to the different materials and in certain lights you can notice this on some cars if not most cars but if there is a definate difference then it may have had some paint along the way somewhere

My 7 year old 6 shows a definite colour difference between metal and plastic. I know not a lot can be done short of respray but is there something which can be done when the car is new to stop this happening? Also, which is the original colour?
