Hi everyone. I have been reading the forums with interest and hope to have a mps by Xmas (sooner if I can end my pcp agreement 3 months left) The only real question I have is why the hell didn't anyone tell me about the mps sooner it seems to be the best kept secret in regular performance car history ?.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am From Yorkshire (Doncaster) and have been a real petrol head from the day I got my license I am probably one of your older members at the ripe old age of 43 and have bought sold and lost money lol on just about every fast saloon and hot hatch that has been out their but for the past 5 years been in the wilderness driving citreons as the family demands and budget took a hold so for the past 5 years been sat on the sidelines watching top gear (love the show but pay no heed to clarksons opinion on saloon and sports as he is not what you call a typical car tester and rides around in a 100k merc now fair play to the guy he has made his money but I feel when he tests the average car I am looking for he has those rose tinted Ferrari glasses on) As the family has got older now I am again in position to get myself something that is pleasurable to drive and can not tell you how many times I have dreamt of driving a proper car with real handling and not something that makes your passengers slide around in when taking a roundabout. I have a 12k budget and the mps3 mk2 slots in their perfect with four doors and room for the kids when out and about and performance when I get to take a trip through the dales or the snake pass. I plan a trip to the nurbergring next may and this will be my first visit and so also wanted a car I could drive straight of the road on to the track. I have done plenty of research and was originally looking at a Renault sport 250 or r26 and I even dabbled with the idea of a seat Leon FR or similar as these are all great cars but they and I dont want to sound rude to people who own these cars but although they are rare enough you still see plenty of them around and I always liked to have something a bit rare or special ,I sound like a snob and can assure you I am not and my budget for all my cars in the past 23 years has never really exceeded 6/7k rather low when you think of it but I always made the most of things and sought out old alfas and Audi bargains the odd BMW and a cosworth or two (sierra sapphire) when they came up.to be honest some of the old cars were super super bargains and some just blew up leaving me beg borrowing and trading for parts to get them back on the road so now that I finally got to the stage of a 12k budget I know this is still low in today's car bracket but I wanted that something special not a run of the mill ST or a BMW but something that had the old wolf in sheepskin clothing appeal with a touch of rarity. Now I know some will say that the mk2 has the bonnet scoop and the rear spoiler but compared to the ST and the impreza etc it does not shout look at me and that appeals massively in my decision. What does astonish me is that I consider myself a real car fanatic and that this car got past under the radar and that I never gave it serious consideration it may have been that I just saw the Mazda badge and thought rx8 or mazda5 and didn't bother to look at the brand on the whole. I am currently sourcing a mps from the dealers as they seem to be the only ones who have them and I will be financing a part x so I will go down that route first before looking at personal finance agreements. The mps3 seems to have settled at around 12 k and so is within reach but have found the dealers themselves seem to know how special this car is and their is little room for negotiation and this is a little odd as I have never been on the back foot when buying a car from a dealer. One Mazda guy said that only 80 or so mps 3 mk2 were sold to the uk network new in 2010 and if this is true then they are much rarer then I thought and this would reflect in the hard stance from the dealers. I am looking to get a drive this sat in a black mps which a dealer is bringing down for me and if I can get the figures to work would sign then and their but I have a car with 3 months pcp left and I need them to take it in and settle for a trade to be done.
Can I ask who people are using to insure these cars any special brokers giving deals etc ? Also the car I am testing is a 2010 and I have read up on spec etc but is their any key kiss and tell things to watch or listen out for ?
Many thanks for the warm welcome and as soon as I get my car count me in for any meets you guys plan. Thanks bob.
