Hello All,

I was searching on google and found this site... I'm looking to buy a Mazda 6 in the near future, so some advice would be great!

I've seen this:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p

Looks pretty good to me, I'm just waiting on a call back to find out more. I thought I would come on here and see if its known? Maybe the owner is on here?

Cheers!

Dan

Low tax version is a plus factor.

Yeh, I am looking for a lower tax one!

Mmmmmmmmm, VVT recalls.... maybe there are a few things I need to find out!

From general research and reading reviews they sound a good reliable car.

I currently have a Nissan Almera GTi modded to a nice standard, but want something forced induction, 4 doors, more refined and more luxurious... these seem to win! :D The fact its AWD is a bonus too!

I guess I will find a lot on here searching around, but any quick fire info on buying would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Dan

The lower tax ones are the very rare ones, may have to wait a while.

Yeah they are very reliable cars, the VVT is the only major thing to look out for and smoking after a good 10 min on idle as this points to a new turbo = ££££

The gear box isn't the best BUT not heard of any going though, they are jet a bit sticky/stiff compared to other cars.

Yeh i am happy to sit back and wait for the right one.

How would I notice the VVT problem? Sounding a bit 'tappy'?

Cheers for the speedy responses! :D

Tappy on the right of the engine is normal, that's the injectors.

Tappy on the left is not so good, that's where the vvt sits.

Also, if you go view one, INSIST the first start up is with the bonnet open and you stood outside next to it, let the owner turn it on, I'd film it too so we can all take a look and advise you.

What you'll be listening out for is a change in tone after a second or two on a cold start, this is also not a good sign. Plenty if it on YouTube mate.

just make sure you let it idle for 10 mins aswell to check the turbo seals. is it doesnt rattle or smoke you can asume all is well with the engine.
