Fitting an XCarLink to a mk2 is a doddle. This thread explains how to drop the glovebox and from there you can reach behind the headunit and plug in the XCarLink.

Depends where you want the iPod to sit... There are other posts in the how to section which should describe removing the centre console trim if you want it in the armrest..
Also, I PMd installation instructions to another member as you need to swap two pins fron the OE plug to the new XCarLink plug. Simple really but if nobody tells you then bluetooth disappears and it's panic city!!
