Hi fellow owners, I have reposted as I managed to muck up my intro by posting it as a reply!
I have just joined the MPS ranks having, perhaps madly, bought a project.
Progress, or lack of, so far
Image
Currently its modded to 0 BHP at the crank.
This is my project, 2008 2.3L MPS.
previously its had CAI, 3 way boost valve, turbo mod, a mystery turbo, full 3" decat exhaust and a tune.

Currently sporting modified conrods  (will post some photos when I am able to)

I am working on getting the engine out to start a rebuild, its going a bit slow as taking my time and gathering information.
I'm working on the basis of, if its got to be done, then I want to do it properly, once.

So plans are during the rebuild to:
1. Forge the motor. (plan to use named parts, undecided which, down to best deal once I know exactly whats needed)
2. Install HPFP, (from this forum it sounds like this should have been one of the first mods to be done).
3. Balance shaft delete.
4. Considering EGR delete.
5. Cobb accessport V3

Plan to get as much done as I can while motor is out, check/replace timing, oil pump, water pump.
Funds allowing after forging, would like to add better turbo (3071 or 3076, suggestions??), FMIC, water/methanol injection.

Couple of questions if anyone can help.
Do I need to uprate injectors, if so which to go for.
Will I need to uprate the in tank fuel pump?

Any constructive advice gladly received.

Welcome, nice project there.
Step one, become a paid member, gives access to so much more on here,guides/how to's as such. Even a list (with links) to everything needing to forge.

Loose the accessport and go for versatune

There are no uprated injectors for the MPS, hence the six fueling (meth)or 5th/6th port

You won't need to update the intank pump till you start clearing the 600hp mark.

Go for a bbr 4 over Garrett

Hi, thanks for the welcome,
I am new to forums, so hope I am posting in the correct place for now.

Step one already done, :mpsoc: did it straight after posting my intro.....well worth it I may add.
Working my way through the extra stuff now.

Can I ask why versatune over cobb?
My only reason for looking to go with AP V3, was it being portable (take it to any new car) and the ability to have live data displayed.
I have seen adapter plates to fit extra injectors after the throttle body, is this the way to go for added fuelling?
Good to know re pump, thanks will save a bit of work for later :)
Why BBR 4 over Garrett, seeing how long you have been on here I guess its from experience, I would be interested to benefit from that, thanks.

One thing I have picked up on this forum, is that I may well have to get accustomed to dollar exchange rates and customs fees., is it best to stick with Edge or are there any other recommended overseas or uk for that matter, that are even good for some parts. (pretty important as my parts list is going to be a bit lengthy)

Welcome to the club!

Nothing wrong with Cobb but they have recently withdrawn their free tuning software. This means you will just have to get a tune from a Cobb certified protuner in the USA. I would recommend www.Freektune.com if you went this route. Unfortunately there are no Cobb protuners in the UK that support the MPS.

I have a set of brand new Cpe pistons, H beam plus rods and a OEM head gasket for sale if interested [WHITE SMILING FACE]

I look forward to tracking the progress in this project.

As Justin says, nothing wrong with Cobb itself, but versatune seem to be more on the ball and in front regards updates and my main reason is that I'd want Justin to tune me, the aftercare help and advice you get with him is second to non.
I had versatune and used it with a small 7" tablet, used it for dials etc too.
