I went and viewed a mk1 Mazda3 MPS yesterday did like the car but did not feel overly quick

I drive a Civic Type R Ep3 with a few of the common bolt on mods and looks to upgrade for something little more grown up hence looking at the MPS as was told they are a nice all round car and when you want some fun it goes well. What type of tuning can I do with out pushing the engine to much to get some more power out of it ?

Also any help and advice on what to look for when buying one would be a great help so I don't end up with a shed

Thanks you

Hey, Type buying guide into the search bar, thats what i used when buying my 6, as for the power, the mps is very very easily tuned from what i can see on here. Maybe slightly cheeky but i own a 6 which is a fairly heavier then the 3 and i had a little straight line race with a type r on the evening i got it, and i wasnt expecting much difference, but the mps really walked it. i think the delivery is smooth in the mps so its going faster then you think it is. A moderate map will see 280 bhp without much fuss. Defo go for the 3 :mpsoc: its an amazing car

The mps will obliterate type R's in straights, the torque is amazing and easily tuned.
Throw some hard bends in there and the type R will soon pull it back.
But throw plenty of bracing on the Mps (about £600 worth) and it'll be soon in front again

Lol, type r's are now ignored.

Remember, the MPS is "torque limited" in the first three gears, when you get a map on it, these will be sorted out and it'll feel much quicker, a few bolt on mods and you won't even look at a type-r.
