Hi I'm Steve have just signed up to the site. I don't yet have an mps but am going to look at 1 tomorrow, am looking at both the 6 mps and the 3 mps, does anybody no which of these is the best one to own as am unsure, what kind of mpg do you get from them, common faults if any, best value for money?

Welcome Steve

Talk about yet another opening of the worm can!

6 owners like the 6 because it's slow and safe (has 4 wheel drive) but alot of car for the money you can pick one up for at the mo. The 3 mk1 and mk2 has the same engine and due to its lighter weight is a bit nippier although the 4wd of the 6 means there really isn't that much between them from a standing start.

The 3 is front wheel drive despite almost every ad I see saying AWD.

Find a good example of either and you won't regret it. I'm sure there is a similar topic on what to look out for when viewing one so have a good read.

Good luck with the hunt

Hi and :welcome: . I'm biased, but I'd say get a 6 if you want to get the best out of any modifications in terms of getting horsepower through to the tarmac  .

The main thing is that you're here, and welcome to our community (even if you go for the 3, and are a boy racer in a FWD hatch  )

P.S. I'll go get my pipe and slippers the now :ppp: .

hi and welcome, i love my Mk1 3, it won hands down for me when test driving. but its down to preferance. i dont think you would be disserpoint with the fwd drive as they get the power down very well. i keep up with my mate evo six on twisty stuff and thats running 309bhp
