Just joined the forum - had my MPS for a year (from new) and just taken it in for it's first annual service - only done 7000 miles. Shocked to find similar problems on inner edges of front tyres and also near side rear! Declined offer of three tyres at £156 each and tracking at £90! Have friend in trade but his database not showing settings needed. Can anybody tell me alignment specifications please. Many thanks. PS one of front discs scoring - they fobbed me off saying maybe a stone had got caught but I think more likely to be pad material - is this a common MPS fault? Cheers.

Bought my used approved mk2 mps and got it on 23rd december. I rotated the tyres front to rear and found the fronts have worn right down on the inside edge too. car is a 2010 with 7500 miles on it. Surely dealer should of checked this on the approved used checks? Think i'll contact Mazda UK about it. Has anybody had any joy in getting tracking or new tyres out of Mazda?

I went back to Lodge Mazda in Aylesbury where I bought the car and to their credit they checked and adjusted the tracking for free as a goodwill gesture so I'm happy as far as that went. They adjusted the tracking but said not that far out but from the readout they gave me it seems only the toe-in/out was checked and not other things like caster and camber geometry. I have found an excellent specialist in Milton Keynes that in addition to road cars sets up race cars so I'll be investing in a full set up check from them in the next few weeks. If they confirm that all is within factory tolerances that begs the question is are the factory settings right. If they find a fault I'll goback to the dealer first and ask them to contact Mazda on my behalf for some compo for the test and excessive tyre wear. Everything I've now read suggests the original factory fitted Dunlop 2050's are pants in every respect including grip and wear rate. My final solution as my inner wear rate is not yet dangerous will be to swap tyres - not front for rear but from side to side to even out the wear on the inner sides. Although the tyres are rotational in direction I'm pretty sure they are not asymmetrical so the left front can go onto the front right. Once they go I won't be replacing them with like for like but at least by swapping I'll perhaps double the 7000 miles that they're on now. I'll keep people posted.

Just had the 18,000 mile service today & been told that I need to replace the Tyres that were on the Front, which are now on the back,as I got them to swap them around So back's are 4mm - the edges have warn............ & these were on the front !! & front's are 6mm - these are still fine though & were on the back !! According to TW Whites & Sons,it's to do with pushing so much power through the Front Tyre's Oh by the way I am using Falken 452's & have only covered 7,000 miles approx since the Dunlops were replaced back in August 2011 Been advised by Godfreys of Horsham that I can hold off replacing all the tyres for now, untill the Fronts have come down to 3mm & the Rears will come down to about 2mm !! Talk about being Confused

This is my Front Left tyre, of my old stock Dunlops, now replaced with Michelin PS3's. Same excessive wear on the inner and outer, and you can even see the rubber has totally gone from one part. i reckon i got around 10k give or take. Wouldn't have noticed this if i didn't get a blow out on boxing day! pretty sure you get points for this kind of wear! i check my regularly now!

I had no joy with my numerous phone calls pestering Mazda. It went on for weeks, they promised to call and didn't, I logged times and the person I spoke to but it got me no where. Changed for some similar dunlops, slightly different tread pattern, the dealer looked at the tracking and said no adjustment was needed although I can feel they altered something and now the steering wheel isn't straight. Now I have done 4000 miles and there isn't the faintest signs of wear yet!

First time on in a while... well after me originally posting this thread, I have become the latest victim. Drivers side front inner wear that is absolutely terrifying!!! 11,400 miles done, so around about the same level as the customer that was in at my brothers work last year. The strange thing is that the passenger side is even on the inside and outside and although worn, not what I would say to excessive levels and would last me until my MOT/ service in March. Apologies for the poor pics as taken on iphone with tyre still on car. I had been checking the tyres regularly, but with being very busy over xmas & new year had maybe gone 6 or 7 weeks without inspecting the inside wear. I am very fortunate not to have had a blow out in that time. I do not believe a tyre should suffer a wear pattern like that though at just over 11,000 miles.

As wheel alignment is not something checked by dealers, it makes me think that it would be worth the expense having it checked by a tyre place if you suspect excessive wear. I was quoted £50 for a full 4 wheel check.

Get some camber plates from Corksport, as the camber is not really adjustable with the oem set up.

Wheels In Motion ( website link here) is the place to go for stuff like this. They determined for the Lexus Owners Club that the standard geometry settings were causing inner wear on the IS200 series and developed correct settings for the car. Perhaps they could do something similar for the MPS?
