Can you insure me? I have a totally standard mps aero.

My current insurer (elephant) is wanting an extra £364 for a non fault incident last october. Thats taking my premium to around £1000 a year and im sick of it!

You'd probably need to call as they will want more details to be competitive but i insured both my cars with them and they have been nothing but excellent thus far

Give them a call mate, always the best way and don't forget to tell them you want the club scheme as there is a discount factored into your quote

50% extra for a non fault incident sounds crazy. I would get a few quotes.

£1,000 - Jesus! Although it's a pretty powerful car for 22 years old. I f'king hate how they do that with non-faults and also points. If the law doesn't count them after three years then the damn insurance companies shouldn't either.

With my wife's car I don't care about the cover due to the age of it, just so long as she's legally on the road. So I just went with the absolute cheapest third party fire and theft on the compare the market thing. Reviews have indicated it's impossible to get through on the telephone, but I don't care as I'll never be calling them - only a third party! lol Save a good few hundred quid by moving from Elephant and although she's had her licence for a long time she's only recently started driving. Got sick of the premiums going up by silly amounts despite zero claims.

An Insurance underwriter has to assess the risk in order to provide a quote.

Statistically, points or non fault accidents from 5 years ago do increase the chance of an at fault claim the next 12 months. That is why they ask about them.

Personally, I think that £1,000 premium for a 22 year old driving a car as powerful as an MPS is dam good value considering the chances of an accident (whether or not at fault), the likely costs of that accident and the fact that the potential assured has recently had an accident, albeit non fault. The fact that he has 5 years NCD at the age of 22 goes heavily in his favour.

I knew about the effect of no fault accidents on premiums but 50% extra sounds a lot.

They probably couldn't be bothered to sit there for 5hours and listen to your mods List :)

I pay 1k and I'm 28 with 6years NCB.
That's all down to the postcode.

Have you tried putting another person with bags of experience and a clean licence on as a name driver such as your mum or dad? Strangely, I believe this can actually return a lower premium than just yourself on it! lol

I have got a quote of £460 fully comp with 1 years no claims with my partner on she has 1 years noclaims,
Without her on it it adds £200 for some strange reason?
