Hey, I'm TJ, new to the group, Just wanted to introduce myself.

Picked up a 08 MPS Mk1 Aero 43K Yesterday.

I believe the cars been ECU mapped, but no paperwork. any ideas what to check for?

I also just noticed a knocking sound on the front passenger side, taking to a garage in the morning, hopefully, nothing too serious.

I'll also get some pics up once's it's been cleaned.

If you have a quick search on here you'll find loads of posts about remaps and who to go to and avoid. Ideally, you really want to know who's done yours, what they've done and any supporting mods.

Can you track down the previous owner from the V5?

Did you find out what the knocking was on the front n/s? Hope it wasnt anything serious.

With regards to the map I'm sure I read somewhere once that you need to know who mapped it to be able to get it remapped by someone else. I'm sure I'm going to corrected fairly soon though. Lol.

Hey TJ welcome to the club.

Only way to check the map without sticking it on a Dyno, is to take a log of the car with Torque Lite App (or similar) and an ODB reader, giving it wide open throttle (WOT) to the red line.

I'm not expert, but if its boosting more than 16psi then your remapped, I think standard is 15.6psi

BTW, I've had a knocking OSF for 18 months now. Garage can't find any play with the suspension, and it passed the MOT fine with it. So I'm just living with the clunking.

I've got 2008 Non Aero that has been J tuned, and it makes a huge difference.

The MPS is load tuned so looking at boost levels will tell you nothing unfortunately. The peak load seen with the torque app should be around 1.61 (161%). If it holds around the 1.8 (180%) or higher between 3000-4500rpm I would have an educated guess that it has been remapped.

Thanks guys, turned out nothing serious about the knocking, ecu was knocking around the engine bay, the wheel was also a little loose.

2 things you never expect to find, a loose ecu and a loose wheel. Wonder why the ecu was loose?
