Hi All,

A new and happy Mazda 3 MPS (Mk 1) owner! Its nice to finally have a car that's fast without being unreliable or boring (Saab's, Renault's and BMW's). I'll be sure to post a thread with a few pics of the car and the progress (whatever progress I make), first things first I'm booking it in for a service with the local garage.

However, I have a quick question. The Mazda sounds nice with a standard exhaust system, but I would like to uprgrade with a 2nd decat and both resonators deleted. To do this would I first have to upgrade the fuel pump to avoid any leaning out issues?

:welcome: to the club, no you wont have to upgrade the fuel pump for that, i personally would suggest just doing the 2nd cat and small resonator to start off with and see if you like the sound and wether its loud enough for you, i believe removing the large resonator aswel you will have alot of drone at m/way speeds

Never thought BMW`s would be boring or unreliable, but maybe I have bought into a mythology.

Thanks for the welcomes!

So no problems with the engine running lean at WOT? :D I'm going to make a judgement of how loud/how it sounds when the exhaust is off when the system's being made. If its putupable I'll go for it! :)

I do prefer the mk1's - not that I'm biased haha

A bit of an unfair judgement on BMW there, it was an E46 318i when it worked it was a nice enough car and well put together inside however it left me stranded more than once. Was a bad example however. My Saab however is pretty quick (not as quick as the Mazda) but it lacks feel, so can be quite boring. Though it handles nicely for a Vauxhall vectra! The 182 on the other hand was an absolute hoot! However always seemed to let me down for one reason or another.

My best car by far was my Ignis Sport. Handled great, sounded good and was reliable. In my opinion they look good too, although their aren't many that think that.
