Hi there, just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a former Civic Type R EP3 owner for the last 6 years and I've just traded up to a new mkII 3 MPS. I have of course got the only colour to get the MPS in (white) as it's obviously the fastest.

I had been umming and rrrr'ing about what to replace the civic with for the last 6 months and nothing seemed to fit the bill of 5 doors, nice and fast, good kit list etc etc. Anyway, finally got to test drive an MPS at Northampton Motors Mazda a month or so back and I pretty much had to have one.

After going through with the order I was pretty gutted to find out that the demonstrator I had drive was beng sold off for 4 grand less than I paid and they never bothered to tell me. I probably would have bought the demonstrator and saved some cash if I had known however a popped back in to the garage 2 days later to drop some paper work off and discovered that the salesman had blown the turbo (only done 6k) and it was sitting in the workshop waiting for new parts.

That's justice for you, and lucky I never bought it!

Andy

I imagine that those demonstrator cars get shown no love at all. Start up cold and hammer the loud pedal for a few miles and then switch off straight away..... that abuse will take it's toll! 6k miles seems early tho!

The turbo on my MK1 went after 5k. My MK2 is an ex demo and it's now up to 5k. No problems so far. I think the MK1's had a batch of dodgy turbo seals fitted. If the turbos gone on a MK2 it's because it hasn't had the chance to cool down after being thrashed.

I think you're right. Lots of people flooring it before its warmed up and then running it a high speed for only a few miles then turned off before it's had chance to cool down etc..
