I have just had to replace 4 Dunlops today. There was a good few thousand miles of tread left, bit the inner edges were rounded, close to thread popping throigh.

The wheel alignment and suspension geometry is spot on - people haven't had the same wear issues on other brands of tyres.

I suspect the tire wall os too soft and easily deforms.

With my 4k miles per year I should get at least 2 years trouble free motoring when I come to sell in two years it will be under 33k.

I'm just about to get a set of Uniroyal Rainsport 3's.

I have the rainexpert 2's on a runabout car and the wet weather straight line braking is stunning.

I remember the Dunlop Sport had them on my company car a Morris 2200 they lasted 7k miles and then had to be replaced they were the OEM for Austin at the time also had them on a Princess 2200. Brings back memories of why we were all members of either the RAC or AA. Mine were Friday jobs.

I would hate to start an argument on here, However Mazda's and Dunlop in general do not like each other. same issue across the brand inner tyre wear. MX5, Mazda 2, Mazda 5 (big issues) and now the 3.. All suffer. how do I know?? I have owned all 4 models :)

Not saying the Dunlop is not a good tyre for performance just it wont last long.

I have never been a big Dunlop fan,had them on a 350z and the mps changed both cars to Michelin night and day difference

got 4 Michelin pilot sport 3's from Costco ;-)

Dunlop do some excellent tyres. Unfortunately the sp2020 that comes with the mk2 are poor. Grip and feel are less than average.

The side walls are also way too soft which results in the inner tread wear.

Bear in mind the standard 2020 is low range. Fit some sport gt or similar and you're laughing. Only reason i don't recommend them is that you can get similarly good tyres for less.

I've just fitted some Sport Maxx RT 2s on some brand new Fox alloys. Ill drop a quick video in the user gallery section as it is my first real upgrade for my Black Pearl!

Gotta say I love the Dunlops but I'll keep a check on these and report - have to say I've pretty much always had them or Hankooks and always preferred the Dunlops - haven't had a bad experience with them on other motors.

I have some tyres to sell too - very good condition 18" Bridgestone Potenzas on the MPS OEM wheels (knackered) and some 19" Dunnies that are 225/45 - no good for the MPS but I thought you guys might now someone who could use them.

I'm guessing there is a dedicated selling forum so I'll put all the details and links to the videos in there.

Hi all,

Picked up my gen 2 3mps last week, it’s got 4 x continentals on it at the moment. I’ve never run these before, has anyone had much experience? They seem okay so far, but fronts will need changing soon and I’d rather my money went somewhere tried and tested by the experts.

It varies on tyre specs.

But the factory fitted tyres were 215 45 18 iirc and people have opted to fit 225 40 18 (I run these now)

I used to run nankang ns2's as they were cheaper and hadn't had issues with them previously. I now run them just on rear and have recently fitted goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 5's on the front and they are amazing tyres!!

£95 fitted each for the f1's and definitely worth the money even in the wet!

Will go for the Goodyear's as you have recommended.

Thinking about getting the white tyre writing on them as well... other cars look mint with it on
