Hi,

Life's a strange thing. One day someone you thought loved you tries to kill you and so you decide stuff it life's too short I'll by an MPS. And so here I am - you can call me Atheist.

And here she is.... I call her the Black Pearl.

Image

I pretty much just swapped my Mazda 6 GH (she was my Silver Pearl) for her and I already love her to bits. She's had one owner from new (a female doctor), she's got a full set of Mazda stamps, and she's only done 83,000 miles which ain't bad for a 12 year old. Engine and exhaust still sound great and I finally fulfilled a childish/childhood dream of having an electric sunroof!

Image

Long journey ahead in terms of mods and upgrades. But I already have a new set of 19" rims and tyres heading my way next week.
She needs some minor dint and scratch repairs and a bit of TLC on the paintwork but she is mechanically sound.
So when I get the money from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority she's gonna get everything she needs and more!

Image

Glad to still be here to fawn mindlessly over a car.. but she is my car.... As Captain Jack might well have said she is... My Black Pearl... Wherever I want to go, I go. That's what a car is, you know. It's not just the wheels and body and exhausts and an engine. That's what a car needs. But what a car is, what my Black Pearl really is, is freedom.

Image

So, bring me that horizon then...

So the first mods are the wheels and tyres.

I've had these 19" rims and tyres in my front room for the last week - place smells like a cardboard condom factory! - which is to say better than usual :D

Image

As I speak these are being fitted to my beloved - as long as they can get the OEM wheels off - seller neglected to tell me there was no locking wheel nut! : vmad

My mate John at King Street Motors http://www.kingstreetmotors.co.uk/ is a good un though so I've every faith!

Soon as she is back I'll drop a few more pics here...

So first voyage and straight away i'm scuppered in the shoals - the new wheels/tyres are to geoffing wide at 8.5j!!!

I double checked with both tyre and wheel supplier and both assured me all was OK. Now I'm trying to swap back the wheels for some 8Js and left wondering if anyone wants some 225/45 R19 Sport Maxx RT2s that have done less than a mile for £500 (cost me £650)?

Still as the say never a flat sea made a good sailor...

So I have now sorted the tyre issue - apart from selling the removed wheels and tyres and the ones I bought that were the wrong size

I've dropped a quick video on to YouTube of the results and will take some decent pics when I can get out - maybe this weekend hopefully.

Need to do some work on the brakes, calipers and hubs though. One job begets another obviously!!

Still I really like my wheels and I think she will stand being dropped 25-30mm or so which will make her look even better. Another mod for the list!

Video is here: https://youtu.be/X9XUmqKycvE

Cheers
