Hi,
Just bought this yesterday and it looks to be in fantastic condition with only 62k on the clock.
My mate said I need to find out with the cambelt will need changing, however another mate said it was a chain?
Can anyone tell me for sure?
Also when should I get it changed if it is a belt?
I would be grateful if there is a pointer to service intervals for this car.
Many thanks!
Al

Hi.

Its chain driven . (Diesel is belt ).

Is the service schedule not in the owners manual?

Garage told me there is a trend back to chains in the car industry.

Thanks guys, that's good news!
There wasn't even an owner manual.
I took a gamble and I hope it pays off!
Just drove to work in it for the 1st time and I loved it!
One thing tho, the brakes squeal a bit when braking and also there is a bit of a squeak when I am coasting, say in 1st up to lights.
Any ideas?

Might just be the pads worn down to the 'alarm' bit (technical term :) )

Thanks mate, the advisories on the MOT were -

Nearside Rear brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (3.5.1i)

Offside Rear brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (3.5.1i)

FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION CORRODED

O/S/F BRAKE BINDING

EXHAUST SYSTEM CORRODED

Are these things likely to cost a fortune?
Also Could the noise I am hearing be the discs?

I would guess the noise is the osf brake binding.

Costs? No idea sorry I guess the expense is relative to how deep your pockets are and how serious the corrosion etc is........
